Privacy policy

Effective 2026-09-27. Plain language; every statement is checked against the app's code.

DOGMATA does not sell data, does not show ads, does not track you across apps, and has no analytics or crash-reporting tools. There is no DOGMATA account. The only server DOGMATA runs is for the optional shared circle (below).

Your places and location

You choose the places DOGMATA watches (home, family, work). A place from "Use my current location" is read only while the app is open; DOGMATA never tracks your location in the background.

To find the alerts, forecasts and risks at a place, DOGMATA sends that place's coordinates to public data services:

• Exact: U.S. government services (National Weather Service, FEMA, including FEMA maps hosted by Esri, USGS), and Apple Maps for the place's name and time zone and for address search. Places clearly outside the U.S. are not sent to U.S.-only services.
• Rounded to about 1 km: NOAA, Iowa State University (alert archive), adsb.lol, OpenStreetMap (Overpass, campgrounds), and outside the U.S. the service that covers the place: Environment Canada, Deutscher Wetterdienst, the UK Environment Agency.
• No location at all: Meteoalarm (by country), GDACS, NASA EONET, Avalanche.org, the US State Department (travel advisories), WHO (outbreak news), NOAA's space weather forecast, MET Norway, the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the Hong Kong Observatory, the Japan Meteorological Agency, NCDR Taiwan and NOAA's tsunami centers publish whole-country lists; DOGMATA downloads the list and matches your place on your iPhone.

These services receive a request the way a website does. DOGMATA sends no name, contact or identifier of its own. Barcodes you look up for your kit go to Open Food Facts (no location).

What stays on your iPhone

Places, who lives with you (for example medical equipment, medicines, pets), the kit, the home shelter plan, preparations, damage records and photos, circle contacts, and settings stay on your iPhone (and your Apple Watch gets the selected place). Health readings (heart rate, blood oxygen) are read from Apple Health, shown on the Body page and never written or sent, unless you choose to add your heart rate to a circle message.

iCloud backup (off unless you turn it on)

If you turn on Settings ▸ Your data ▸ Back up to iCloud, your places, household answers, kit, home plan, preparations, FEMA registration number and settings are kept as one record in your private iCloud database, encrypted with your iCloud keys. DOGMATA's developer cannot read it. Delete the iCloud copy there, or with Delete my data.

Shared circle (optional)

If you start or join a circle, DOGMATA creates an anonymous account on the circle's server (Supabase) and keeps there: the name you give the circle, the places you choose to share (their names and coordinates rounded to about 1 km), and your status (I'M OK, I NEED HELP, I'M LEAVING, with the time). Only people in your circle can read them. Cloudflare Turnstile may check that a new account is a person. Leave the circle, or use Delete my data, and your data on the server is deleted. Deleting the app alone does not delete your circle data: leave the circle first.

Notifications

Alert checks run on your iPhone. Notifications about your circle and kit use "Circle update" and "Kit reminder" on the Lock Screen when you set previews to hide.

Delete my data

Settings ▸ Your data ▸ Delete my data removes everything on this iPhone and the Watch's copy, your circle data on the server, and the iCloud copy. If the circle's server or iCloud can't be reached, nothing is deleted and the app says so.
